Alternative Energy: CIS Countries News Review May 2007 - Part 1 of 3Energy and Commodities Digest BIOFUEL PLANT CONSTRUCTION - RUSSIA A biodiesel plant will be built in Russia's Penza region, 550 km southeast of Moscow. The plant will process rapeseed and will have an annual capacity of 250,000 tonnes of biodiesel. *** Russian agricultural company Bakalea will build a biofuel plant in Samara region, 850 km southeast of Moscow. The plant will have a production capacity of seven tonnes of biodiesel daily and will use rapeseed oil as raw material. Samara region has the capacity to produce 400,000 tonnes of biofuel annually. *** A bioethanol plant will be built in Russia's Irkutsk region, eastern Siberia. The plant will be part of the reconstruction of bankrupt Tulun Hydrolysis Plant. Non-profit organisation Fuel Energy Union will invest over 510 mln Russian roubles ($19.7 mln/14.7 mln euro) in the project.
