Belarus-based ZAO Slavneft-Start to build 8 new filling stations in 2008

MINSK, Jan 9 (Prime-Tass)—Joint venture ZAO Slavneft-Start plans to build eight new gasoline stations in Belarus in 2008, a representative in state-run oil and chemistry concern Belneftekhim told Prime-Tass.

Also, Slavneft-Start will refit two stations and build one gas-filling warehouse and install 11 gas-filling units in 2008. One of Slavneft-Start stations will start selling biodiesel fuel in the long run.

ZAO Slavneft-Start has the second largest network of filling stations in Belarus.

Belarus has 693 filling stations; the number has doubled since 1998. Belneftekhim controls 413 of them, Lukoil-Byelorussia 59, United Company eight. The remaining 134 stations are controlled by entities of various types of ownership.

In 2004, the Belarusian government adopted the program to develop a network of filling stations for the period until 2010. It was planned to build 346 gasoline stations.

The Council of Ministers of Belarus adopted a new version of the program in November 2006.
