The ORBITA farm (Omsk Region) is to build an enterprise to produce rape oil.

Investments are put at R450 million. The enterprise will process up to 120,000 tonnes of rape annually. Farmers are to supply end products to Europe as raw materials to produce biodiesel. The enterprise, which is considered to be the largest rape processing factory in the region, will be fitted with German equipment. It will go into operation in autumn 2008. ORBITA plans to grow rape crops independently. Experts say, the company will have no sales problems; the product has a steady demand not only abroad but also in Russia. Rape oil is used to produce cosmetics in Russia. It will be used in biodiesel production in the long term.

The first rape processing factory was launched in the Omsk region in June 2007. The local MASLA SIBIRI (Siberian Oil) company invested about $1.0 million in the construction project. It plans to process up to 25,000 tonnes of rape annually.
