RENEWABLES: Russian Republic of Tatarstan To Export Biofuel to Europe

planned biodiesel factory in the Russian republic of Tatarstan will initially export all of its production to European countries, Russian Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev told media on November 27, 2007. European countries are willing to purchase biodiesel from Russia because they do not have enough cultivation land to spare for biofuel production, he added.

Belneftekhim to submit biodiesel program to govt Nov 22

Belarus' state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim will submit to the government its diesel biofuel program on November 22, said Grigory Ushkevich, the deputy head of the investment and development department with the concern.

Germany- Oilseeds and Products: Farmers Plant Less Rapeseed for 2008 Due to Price Relation to Wheat

German rapeseed production in 2007 is estimated at 5.3 million metric tons (MT) compared to 5.34 million MT in 2006. The increase in rapeseed area was offset by lower yields. All through 2007, rapeseed prices have been higher than in 2006. However, in August 2007, when plantings for the 2008 rapeseed crop occurred, the gap between rapeseed and baking wheat prices had narrowed to the extent that farmers reduced their rapeseed planting by about 8-10 percent according to industry estimates.

INTERVIEW-Producers see rise in Ukraine vegoil output, sales

Record high world prices and strong demand will prompt Ukraine to raise vegetable oil output and exports, but it also has to limit rapeseed sales to boost local biofuel production, producers said on Wednesday.

Tomsk company constructs plant in Omsk region

Tomsk group of companies Prod-Rx has started construction of plant on rapeseed oil production in Tavricheskiy area of Omsk region. The project's investment volume has already accounted for RUR 150 million. The plant's first turn is planned to process 120 thousand tones a year. In future Tomsk company intends to launch a biodiesel production on the plant.

From the Editor - Opec to boost crude supplies, but prices hit new record high.

At its much-heralded meeting on 10-11 September, Opec unexpectedly agreed to increase production by 500,000 b/d from 1 November. Apparently unimpressed by Opec's decision, spot prices for WTI* immediately rose to a new record of $79.6/b, having briefly moved above $80/b — the highest dollar value ever recorded, but still below 1979's inflation adjusted $90/b short-lived peak.
