Ukraine possesses world's second export potential of rape - expertUkrainian National News Agency KYIV, /UKRINFORM/. An export potential of the Ukrainian rape makes up 2.45 million tons in 2008/09 marketing year, which makes Ukraine the second main supplier of this oil culture in the world after Canada. This estimate was made by analyst Vadym Lytvynenko at the International Conference "Fat-and-Oil Industry-2008" in Odesa (South Ukraine). According to the analyst, in the current season, an export share of rape seeds will go up to 91 percent (from 85 percent) in Ukraine, and the share of domestic processing will drop.
According to V. Lytvynenko, increase of capacities of Ukrainian oil producing enterprises may become a stimulus for rape processing inside the country in the nearest future, as well as a gradual rise in consumption of rape oil for biodiesel oil production in Ukraine.
