BIOFUEL PLANT CONSTRUCTION, WIND POWER — CIS COUNTRIES Russia may start producing biofuel for Italy, according to information from the Russian Agriculture Ministry. Italian companies will supply the necessary technology and Russia will provide the raw materials. *** A 13 mln euro ($17.7 mln) wood pellets plant will be built in Russian Mary-El republic, east of Moscow, by 2012. The project will be carried out by Russian company VID, in cooperation with International Investment Bank, which provided a credit for the plant construction, and Czech engineering company Pelletia-TEC, which will supply the equipment for the plant. *** Russian company Titan may design a bioethanol production project for Colombia, the Colombian ambassador to Russia Diego Tobol said. *** Belarusian petrochemical company Belneftekhim suggested that all diesel fuel in the country should be produced with the addition of 5.0 pct of biodiesel by 2010. This is envisaged in the government programme for the production of biodiesel for the period 2007-2010. *** A biofuel plant will be built in Giurgiulesti, Moldova, on a site that was previously planned for an oil refinery. *** A 5.0-MW wind farm started to be constructed in eastern Kazakhstan, near the border with China.
