Home / Bioethanol / News Belarus’ Zhabinka sugar refinery to launch $81.6 mln bioethanol production
A project has been developed by Belarusian specialists to create a U.S. 81.6 million bioethanol production at OAO Zhabinka Sugar Refinery, an official with the state-run food concern Belgospischeprom told Prime-Tass. The unit will produce 60,000 tonnes of bioethanol annually, enabling Belarus to reduce consumption of oil products due to the development of mixed gasolines with 5% ethanol additives. The construction will take four years, and the project will break even in ten years. So far preliminary feasibility studies have been completed. Belgospischeprom plans to invite an investor.
The refinery was established in 1963 and transformed into a joint-stock company with a 97.35% state stake in 1996.
