The alcohol sphere may be a base for production of biofuel in Ukraine, First Deputy Chairman of the UkrSpyrt Concern Vitaliy Sosnytskyi told a press conference in Kyiv. According to him, presently the alcohol sector capacities are used only by 52 percent. The rest of capacities will be perfectly re-profiled for production of bioethanol as a component part for making mix gasoline», he said. «At the same time, a part of enterprises will be transferred to production of ethyl alcohol, crude alcohol, which will be a raw material for bioethanol production. Therefore, we will produce a component part for biofuel production, while loading the distilling plants and using different types of agricultural raw materials. This will allow the Ukrainian agrarians developing its raw material base». He noted that the state Program for development of the alcoholic sector for 2007-2012 provides for production of biofuel proper in addition to bioethanol production. «Presently we have capacities at four plants for producing 36 thousand tons of bioethanol a year», he said. «In November 2008, new facilities designed for bioethanol production to the volume of 114 thousand tons will be commissioned at six plants. And by 2010, the volumes are planned to be increased to 219 thousand tons».
