German group will invest $210mn in grain processing plant in southern Russia

The plant's first production unit, which is to process grain using biotechnologies, is planned to be launched in 2014. The unit will process 250,000 metric tons of grain a year to produce lysine, an indispensable amino acid for animal nutrition.

Evonik Industries and the region's authorities have signed MOI on the project in late March. Local agribusiness is ready to supply the new venture with grain.

MOSCOW. Germany's Evonik Industries will invest RUR6bn ($210.6mn, or €148.8mn) in construction of a grain processing plant in south Russia's Rostov Region.
