The fuel with methyl ester has improved greasy properties. Grodno Azot has become the first Belarusian company that launched the production of fatty acids methyl ester (FAME) from the rapeseed oil in 2007. It is used as a 5%-additive agent for the diesel fuel. In late 2010 - early 2011, the company is expected to produce up to 40,000 tonnes of FAME. Founded on 3 December 1963, Grodno Azot is a modern high-technology company of the petrochemical industry of Belarus. The company makes part to the Belneftekhim Concern. In October 2007 the company launched the production of biodiesel fuel mixed with methyl ethers of oily acids. Grodno Azot specializes in liquid technical grade ammonia, nitrogen fertilizers (carbamide, carbamide-ammoniac mixture, ammonia sulphate), technical methanol, caprolactam, biodiesel fuel, liquid carbon dioxide. Around 60% of the make is supplied to the domestic market. The rest of the products are exported to the USA, China, Russia, Ukraine, Western Europe, South-East Asia, Latin America. The company employs 7,500 professionals.
