King Carl XVI Gustaf Assesses Ukraine's High Prospects For Biofuel Production

(Ukrainian News, Stepan Smyshliaev, 09/25/2008) Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf assesses Ukraine's high prospects for biofuel production.

He said this in an interview with the Sprava newspaper.

"I think Ukraine with its vast fertile lands could become a leader in biofuel production", the king said.

He pointed out the problem of energy safety was becoming more acute and in this connection transfer to alternative sources of energy was the great concern of the world community.

"Oil and gas deposits will exhaust, and we have to find alternative sources of energy ", he said.

The king is sure Ukraine will contribute to energy safety for future generation through developing the biofuel production.

Sweden possesses technologies which can be applied in the construction of bioethanol plants, including those in Ukraine, the king stressed. As Ukrainian News reported, the King Carl XVI Gustaf is to pay an official visit to Ukraine September 30 - October 3 to meet with this country's officials.
