Home / Bioethanol / News Moldau: industry to cut dependence on oil imports© 2008 Elsevier Engineering Information www.ei.org [http://www.ei.org] The Republic of Moldau is to take steps to reduce its dependence on imported oil. Measures include projects to make biofuels. It was announced in Nov 2007 that a bioethanol plant was to be erected in Giurgiulesti. The biofuel will be produced using 365,000 tonnes/y of corn. Construction costs are put at EUR 70 M. In the north of the country, US company Fuel Makers is to erect a bioethanol plant with initial capacity of 60,000 tonnes/y and eventual capacity of 150,000 tonnes/y. Investment is put at $35 M. A research institute is currently erecting a pilot plant for producing biodiesel. It will process rapeseed and sunflower oil. Nachrichten fuer Aussenhandel
