Measures include projects to make biofuels. It was announced in Nov 2007 that a bioethanol plant was to be erected in Giurgiulesti. The biofuel will be produced using 365,000 tonnes/y of corn. Construction costs are put at EUR 70 M. In the north of the country, US company Fuel Makers is to erect a bioethanol plant with initial capacity of 60,000 tonnes/y and eventual capacity of 150,000 tonnes/y. Investment is put at $35 M.
