(ADPnews) - Feb 24, 2010 - Ukrainian biofuel start-up Alternativa (IOM) Ltd and US clean-tech developer Greenshift (OTC:GERS) have teamed up to jointly develop sustainable integrated feedstock and eco-friendly fuel facilities worldwide.

The companies announced yesterday the inking of a supply and cooperation deal, pursuant to which they will initially focus on choosing appropriate sites for biomass-derived feedstock resources and the supply-chain infrastructure.

Ukraine has already been marked as the home for the first biofuel facility. According to plans, the Ukrainian plant will process rapeseed into biofuels, edible oils and animal feed. It will use Greenshift's patented and patent-pending refining technologies.

Besides Ukraine, Alternativa is assessing several additional sites for development of similar facilities in Russia and Canada.

Alternativa (IOM) Ltd was established by British enterpreneur Richard Spinks, the former CEO of agriculture company Landkom International plc.
