Ukraine: Distilleries will produce industrial alcohol and biofuel

Ukrainian distilleries, besides the production of drinking alcohol, will also produce industrial alcohol and biofuel. This was reported by the First Deputy Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food, Mykola Bezuhly.

BP: global biofuel production to reach 6.5 million bpd by 2030

BP Energy Outlook 2030 offers great prospects to biofuels (largely ethanol) for the next 20 years, especially in the OECD member countries. BP analysts estimate that global production of biofuel in 2030 is expected to exceed 6.5 million bpd by 2030, up from 1.8 million bpd in 2010.

Shell, Codexis to Roll Out Cellulose Technology for Biofuels

Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Europe's largest oil company, and Codexis Inc. will roll out technology this year to make biofuels from wheat straw and sugar-cane bagasse, the cellulose-rich waste from cane processing. "We're focusing on wheat straw, which is the major source of cellulosic biomass in China and Russia, and in Canada" Shaw said yesterday, according to the transcript of an earnings teleconference. Sugar-cane bagasse is also being looked at in Brazil, he said.

Russian government may start grain interventions on Feb 1 - Skrynnik

The purchase interventions on Russia' s grain market may start on February 1, 2011, Russian Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik told reporters on Friday.  "The Agriculture Ministry drafted the Russian government's instruction for the sale of grain from the Intervention Fund through exchange auctions," she said.
