Russian Nefis Cosmetics To Build $384.5 Mln Bioethanol Plant in Tatarstan

Russian company Nefis Cosmetics plans to build a 10 bln Russian roubles ($384.5 mln/288.4 mln euro) plant for the production of bioethanol in the republic of Tatarstan, east of Moscow, it was reported on March 28, 2007. The new plant will process about one million tonnes of wheat, from which 350,000 tonnes of bioethanol and 120,000 tonnes of protein will be produced per year.

Russia to Build Two Biofuel Production Lines

Russia plans to build two biofuel production lines, said Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev.According to Gordeyev, one project has already been launched in Omsk and the other is to be located in Western Russia. Biodiesel fuel is to be made of rape and bioethanol of grain. Gordeyev went on that talks are under way on raw material supplies to Europe for biofuel production. Gordeyev pointed out that in the EU biofuel is to account for at least 5.75% of total motor fuel by 2010.

STATE-RUN ENTERPRISE "BIOETHANOL" TO BE SET UP ON "KYIVSPYRT" BASES

The State-run enterprise "Bioethanol" will be established on the bases of the city union "KyivSpyrt"; the new enterprise will be involved in coordinating activity of Ukrainian spirits plants converted to the bioethanol production, the "UkrSpyrt" holding reported.

A. Gordeev: Russia to Meet European Demand for Biofuel Raw Materials

Russia is ready to meet the European demand for biofuel raw materials, said Russian Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeev.

Russia is considering supplying either raw materials or biofuel to European countries. Russia is also to use rape to produce biodiesel fuel and grain to turn out bioethanol. The first pilot project for a plant to process grain into bioethanol is currently under construction in Omsk Region. Gordeev says Siberia has enough potential to yield five to seven million tonnes of grain to produce biofuel worth several hundred million dollars. The similar project is to be launched in Western Russia.

By 2030 Ukraine to reduce energy consumption by 12 percent.

KYIV, March 15 /UKRINFORM/. By 2030 Ukraine means to reduce energy consumption by 12 percent, Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko said while speaking at the energy summit in London. According to him, energy consumption in metallurgy is expected to decrease by 30% and in the chemical industry by 20%.

According to Boyko, Ukraine will actively develop alternative energy generation. There are projects of plant construction for bioethanol and biodiesel production, coal processing into synthetic oil, development of wind-power engineering and extraction of mine methane.

In sphere of manufacture of bioethanol Kazakhstan has not only huge opportunities, but also the certain advantages. About it(this) today, Minister of Agriculture RK Akhmetzhan Esimov has declared. Only due to processing high-quality grain it is annually possible to make more than 3 billion litres of biofuel.
