Sweden ready to promote advanced energy technologies in Belarus

"This country is certainly interested in promoting the cooperation with Sweden, as Belarus has been implementing a program on diversifying its energy supplies and increasing the share of local and renewable fuels in its energy and fuel balance (by 2012 this index should reach 20-25%)", the diplomat said.

A biofuel plant with an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes will be built in Kharkov region, eastern Ukraine in 2009. The plant will use residue from the sunflower oil production industry, and later rapeseed. The investment in the plant is estimated at 146 mln Ukrainian hryvnias ($29 mln/22 mln euro).

Ukraine: MP Kaletnyk Proposes Ordering Big City Authorities To Guarantee Transfer Of All Transport To Biofuel By 2010

Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) Deputy Hryhorii Kaletnyk (Party of Regions faction) proposes that the parliament order executive authorities of cities with a population of above 500,000, as well as the owners of transportation means with internal combustion engines, to guarantee transfer of that transport to the use of biological fuel before the year of 2010.

U.S.-based FuelMakers To Build $40 Mln Biofuel Plant in Moldova in 2008

U.S.-based FuelMakers LLC plans to invest $40 million (30.4 million euro) in the construction of a biofuel plant in northern Moldova next year, a company official said on Thursday.

Chinese head for Russia's farm heartland

Chinese farmers are heading for Russia's black-earth agricultural heartland, with a pilot project for maize and vegetables this year and possible major investment from 2008, the Penza region's Governor Vasiliy Bochkarev said.

Bochkarev was in Edinburgh and in Nottingham in central England this week to promote investment in Penza, buoyed by the success of a British farming project covering 30,000 hectares of prime land in the region.

Finance Ministry: Excise Duties for Oil Products Should Not Be Indexed

As soon as Russia gets technical specifications for bioethanol fuel, lower excise duty rates will be fixed for it.

Agricultural Policy Ministry Initiating Introduction Of Tax Concessions For Biofuel Producers

Agricultural Policy Minister Yurii Melnyk disclosed this to the press. In particular, on Tuesday, the parliament discussed legislative provision of production of alternative types of fuel. Melnyk said that the Verkhovna Rada considered two bills, which foresee provision of tax concessions for biofuel producers and also for producers of equipment for biofuel plants. The bills also foresee allowance for production of biofuel by enterprises of all property types.
