IRKUTSK, December 25. /FIS/ Russia's first production of biobutanol (second generation biofuel) is to be launched by September 2008 on the base of Tulun Hydrolytic Plant, as stipulated by the MOU between the Irkutsk region's administration and the non-profit organization 'Fuel and Energy Union'. The Russian hydrolytic industry is in deep crisis. All 68 hydrolytic plans have been shut down and their properties sold. The hydraulic plant in the Angara area was lucky to retain the property complex and upon the transfer of the state shareholding to the regional authorities some investors were found to revive the plant. At the plant currently under way is the development of a modern enterprise to make the innovative product biobutanol, a second generation biofuel in demand in the world market. Support to the project was provided by United Industrial Corporation ' Oboronprom' OJSC. The newly established Eastern-Siberia Biotechnology Combine OJSC is set to attract qualified personnel, including former plant's employees.
