Home / Bioethanol / News State conglomerate mulls bioethanol plant project
BelaPAN
Minsk, 22 January. The Belarusian State Food Industry Concern (Beldzyarzhkharchpram) has carried out a feasibility study into the possibility of building a bioethanol plant in the country. As Ihar Shustaw, a departmental chief at the state conglomerate, told BelaPAN, the plant is expected to be constructed at the Zhabinka sugar refinery in the Brest region. The €55-million facility is to have an annual output capacity of 60,000 tons, according to the official. The conglomerate believes that the project will help cut back on the consumption of petroleum products, as bioethanol will be added to motor fuel. Bioethanol-containing gasoline will be used in cars, boats, mini tractors and even portable motorized saws. Bioethanol is made of sugar beet and other agricultural crops. By Maryna Nosava, BelaPAN
