KI V, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Ukraine's 2011 grain harvest sill exceed last year's level of 39 million tonnes because wet weather and the absence of severe frosts have created excellent conditions for grains, forecasters said on Wednesday.

"The conditions are perfect. The outlook for this year's harvest is very good. Rains and snow are compensating for last year's drought," Tetyana Adamenko from the Ukrainian government's weather forecasting service, told Reuters.

Severe drought in June-September 2010, hit two leading grain producers in the Black Sea region, Ukraine and Russia, forcing both of them to impose strong export curbs.

Russia banned grain exports this season up to July 2011 while Ukraine has imposed 4.2 million tonnes grain quotas up to March 31. [ID:nLDE69I0E8] [ID:nLDE6BJ0V1]

Adamenko said last year's drought delayed winter grain sowing in many Ukrainian regions but warm October and November weather had improved conditions for about 90 percent of the crops.

"Most crops are in good condition and this allows us to forecast a 15-20 percent rise in the 2011 winter grain harvest to 24-25 million tonnes," Adamenko told a news conference.

Ukraine harvested about 21 million tonnes of winter grains, mostly wheat and barley, in 2010.

UkrAgroConsult agriculture consultancy said on Tuesday that Ukraine was likely to boost its grain harvest to 46.2 million tonnes in 2011 from 39.2 million in 2010. [ID:nLDE70A0D5]

The consultancy said the winter wheat harvest c/uld rise to 20.2 million tonnes this year from 16.5 million in 2010. Winter wheat amounts to about 90 percent of the total Ukrainian wheat harvest. (Reporting by Pavel Polityuk; editing by Richard Ballforth)
