The state concern of distillery and alcoholic beverage industry UkrSpyrt started biofuel Bio-100 production at the Lokhvytsia Distillery (Poltava region, Central Ukraine), it is said in the company's statement. The volumes of Bio-10 production make up 80 tons per 24 hours. Total products of the Lokhvytsia Distillery have been realized at Ukrainian filling stations under its own trade mark. The UkrSpyrt believes that an experiment on biofuel production will allow carrying out examination of all stages of production and realization of alternative fuel. Another five plants of the UkrSpyrt will be involved into a program of biofuel production in the nearest future. The UkrSpyrt has been set up according to the Cabinet's resolution of June 29, 1996, "On Improvement of Managing Enterprises of Distillery and Alcoholic Beverages Industry". On February 11, the Cabinet instructed the National Agency for Effective Use of Energy Resources to study advisability of setting up the state concern Biofuel of Ukraine and handing over 12 distilleries entitled to produce bioethanol under the Agency's administration.
